Yesterday was a first for me as in I’ve shot a musical. I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of stage, shooting position or action on stage. I hadn’t seen the Rocky Horror Show before. It turns out I have 25 minutes to shoot, which is a lot more than the usual three songs. Since it was a musical I decided to give the Phase One a ride to see how the system performs in extreme light. The Rocky Horror Show was nice to watch, not my favourite though, but the voices were all amazing. If they perform close to you and you are available that evening make sure to check them out, it will make for an interesting evening.

On a technical note: I wasn’t sure if I should give technical details since most of my readers are purely concert photographers but it was quite similar in terms of light. We were not allowed in front of the stage, we were positioned at approximatively 45° on each side. The stage being quite narrow that made for a weird angle to could be interesting in it’s extremes. I ended up working nearly parallel to the stage or further back in the room to get more interesting angles. Due to the distance I used the 70-200 F2.8 mm and the Phase One with a 80mm F1.8 for this gig.
