The stage might be 30 or 40 meters across. Now try to photography a bundle of energy racing back and forth, up and down over this 30 or 40 meters. That’s how it felt to photograph Lindsey Stirling…. 😀

That being said I found her performance quite amazing. I cannot fathom how she manages to move around like that and still play the way she does. I’m trying to find the correct words to describe her “being” and all I can come up with is gentle, bright soul. Might sound clichĂ©, but that’s really how I perceived her. From a musical perspective there’re are going to be lovers and haters out there, leaving the middle ground sparsely populated.

While I enjoyed the 90 minutes the show lasted, one can argue that some parts seem quite repetitive. I think I could have watched Lindsey perform for 90 minutes without sound and still be amazed by the performance, but that’s just me. If you get a chance look her up on Youtube, as usual it’s always better to have a look yourself and make up your own mind. All I can say is that it’s definitely going to be worth your money to go and see her show. Oh by the way, if somebody heard a thumbing noise later in the gig, it was my jaw when she did a “Matrix” move while playing … (at mark 01:29 in this video)

On a technical note: The light was really good for this show. I was a bit afraid of the powerful LED’s that I saw on the stage but they were used in a very creative way as to not blind the spectators, and thus us photographers. I used the 28-75mm F2.8 and the 70-200mm F2.8 for this show. Although she was moving so fast that the 70-200 was quite useless.
