Jennifer Weist aka Lead in the Jennifer Rostock band is know for her excellent live performances. I’ve seen many great concert pictures before, so I really didn’t want to miss out when she stopped in Luxembourg to promote their chart breaking album “Schlaflos”. The show was quite impressive, you can feel that the band has some experience on stage and knows how to entertain their fans. I’ve had trouble getting a close up shot of Jennifer since she was moving around so much. It’s funny it all seemed wild and chaotic but I couldn’t help and feel a sense of planning and utter control.

On a technical note: The light was not the issue for this gig. It was quite ok, I would say average. The real challenge was composing the shot during the three songs. Jennifer was so fast that it was really tough focussing and composing the shot. In situations like these you have to shoot a bit more, a “fire and forget” approach becomes an option in this case. The stage was beautiful and screamed for me to use the fisheye, but I had a guy from security stand in the middle of the pit, I couldn’t find an angle in which I didn’t have him in the shot. This gig was the prime example of why the 70-200 is not a very useful tool when you are that close up to the stage. I stuck to the 24-70mm F2.8 all all through the three songs.
