I absolutely love Agnes Obel’s work. I missed her last year when she performed in Luxembourg, which I regretted a lot. That was until last night. She is stunning, ….. the voice the presence even if only sitting behind the piano for most of the time. Hearing Dorian live was a stunning musical experience. This was definitely a nice way to finish a very musical weekend.
On a technical note: As much as I love her music this gig set a new standard in the worst possible situations to take pictures. I don’t know how many times I’ve said this before, …… but I’ll keep on trying: Musicians … if you don’t want to be photographer, then don’t let photographers in !
I should have know what was coming when I read the photo rules (see pic). Then they make us stand in the back of the room right behind the FOH, that’s where the soundstage is. That’s a long way, it’s doable if there’s enough light and the artists move a bit. But in this case Agnes stayed behind the piano and what little light there was changed from Red, to Blue and then bright Blue. I mean come on !!!! We’re just trying to do our jobs, we’re not Paparazzis, we want to shoot pictures that make you look good ! I had to shoot from the same angle with the 70-200 mm F2.8 for this one.
I won’t put a link to the Flick gallery as these are the only shots that I will publish, no point in showing 10 times the same picture.
